This outfit was made for my Postmodernism themed project.

Even though it’s over i still do not really know what Postmodern means but I chose to base mine around Punks and New Romantics.

The outfit is menswear and I have screen printed skulls onto red jersey to create the trousers. I have used black mesh for the body part of the top and the same red jersey as the trousers, without the skulls, for the sleeves. I have then knitted two rectangles for the ‘spine’ part of the knitted rib cage and crocheted chains to create the ‘ribs’.

Overall I am very pleased with how the final outfit came out.

A crochet apple jacket I have been working on. The pattern is from guardian.co.uk and altogether this took me just over 2 hours.

I think I might have to buy some bigger apples though!

I started this scarf about 6 months ago and I managed to lose it. But last night i found it again (it was with some oxfam goodies under the stairs) so i spent about an hour just finishing it off and i am super happy with it!
The yarn used is the Star Lites stuff which i got for £9.99 from St Ives market!

Today i finished the iPod case I have been knitting for a while on and off.

Pleased with how it turned out.

And i used an Ed badge to cover up the popper!

I finished making my panda hat last week!
I used a pattern which i brought from stitchykits.co.uk
And i bought all of my yarn from a wool shop in my town.
All in all this hat took me a Thursday evening, a Friday afternoon & all day on a Sunday to complete.

The first project after getting back to college went well.
Our fashion group made outfits to be shown in a local charity fashion show in St Ives, Cambridgeshire for ‘Young Lives’.
Our theme was the Caribbean and each of our dresses were very different, I based mine on the traditional Caribbean dress and this is how it turned out (minus the tights and shoes).

Finally got round to updating this blog(only because Lorna has reminded me)!
This is such a poor quality picture but I entered The Clothes Show Live’s Young Knitter of the Year award this week.
The theme was vintage charm and the brief was to create an accessory which was inspired by vintage and nature.
So i created a crochet tie-on collar with a flower and leaf design!

Dress number 3&4 for the project Into The Woods. We had to choose our favourite fairytale and modernise it. I chose Goldilocks and the three bears, and I modernised it by instead of Goldilocks going to the forest and going into the three bears house and eating their food/breaking their chairs, she goes to her favourite bands’ gig (who are called the three bears)and goes onto their tour bus and drinks their drinks and breaks their instruments. My project was largely influenced by my favourite band, my passion and my favourite designer, craig lawrence. The shorter dress was the dress I designed first & the other was only thought of a week before this fashion show as out tutor set us a challenge to create another dress with a week to go. We also had to look into ethical fashion for this project and the majority of the material we used had to be second hand. For the first dress I bought the gold material however the black corset was bought from a charity shop and I used black binbags to add more volume to the skirt. On the second dress the see through top was second hand and the gold skirt was a secong hand top which I just cut the straps off and sewed onto the bottom of the black top. I then used gold string which I found in a 99p store(a tip from craig lawrence) to thread through the gaps in the top.

Dress number 2 was for the project Future Beauty. In this project we had to gather our own idea’s as to what we thought the future would be like. I drew my inspiration from the Busted song-Year 3000. “Not much had changed but they lived under water”. Therefor my dress was based on underwater creatures. We also had to include a Japanese twist into our design. We looked into the art of origami and experimented with paper different ways to get the look we was trying to create. After getting this perfect we translated the paper designs into material. On my dress I used the ‘tentacles’ as my origami piece.
